God Gives the Increase: @Lecrae’s Humble Facebook Post

image
I just read this from Lecrae on his Facebook wall and frankly he took the words out of my mouth. I’ve also noticed the comments left by fans.

We simply cannot base our faith on another man’s faith nor raise anyone doing God’s work on any pedestal! Lecrae being the most visible Christian artist right now faces a challenge. And he addresses it beautifully I think.

Let’s look at a few scriptures and then I’ll let Crae take it from there.

1 Corinthians 3:5-7 KJV

Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

I’m pretty sure my Facebook feedback is enough for 2 complete chapters in a book. Lol. People are worried about so many of my moves as if anyone else’s moves mean less. I’m not more special in Gods eyes because of my platform. I think many are worried I’ll let them down. There isn’t a person alive that WONT in some way let you down. That’s why Jesus (not Lecrae) should be your hope.

Has “fame” gotten to me?! Lol.

I have a hard time saying I’m even remotely “famous”. Kanye West is famous, Katy perry is famous, I’m just…Lecrae. Then of course I’d have to ignore the various times people spot me out in public and tell me stories of how encouraged they are at what God is doing thru me & the thousands of people who show up at concerts. I get it. I just have a hard time accepting it. You have to understand years ago when I just rapping on street corners and the local halfway house, I could have cared less about being in a magazine. I wanted to impact people not impress people. Now I have to stand back and wonder who’s really impacted and who is simply impressed. Not necessarily impressed with my gifts but with the illusion of fame they perceive I have. I’m just a man with flaws, misconceptions and a murky lens that God is clearing up daily. Love to you all!

Thanks for sharing, Crae. Readers, share your thoughts. CMP out!!

Oops! Forgot about the music! Classic Crae.

Ears, Eyes, Mind, Heart: Is What You Watch and Listen to That Important?

I’m not saying that those who listen to gospel music are perfect little angels. I’m not saying those that don’t are not. But have you noticed how every song, word or chorus you hear sticks with you? How each thing you saw on television can easily be recalled even when you’re not trying to recall it?

What you take in remains with you. If you take in enough of it, that information can slowly shape how you think, feel and act. It might even flow out of you naturally because it’s been added to your being.

Crazy ain’t it??

Yeah, you can listen to and watch whatever you want! Doesn’t mean you should. Let’s tie in some scripture though.

I Corinthians 10:23 NKJV

All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.

You can eat all the fatty food you want but don’t be surprised if you develop health problems. Right? You can most certainly apply it to things that can affect your heart and mind towards God. Yeah, it’s that important. It’s no wonder that God encourages us to stay immersed in His Word.

Colossians 3:16 NKJV

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Well we’re talking about entrainment for the moment. I love all kinds of music and I’m sure you do too. All I’m saying is be careful. Use the beautiful things given to you to glorify God and keep you Holy. It will help others around you get better too.

Antoine Dodson Chooses God Over Homosexuality

Well, obviously we have the Word of God doing what it’s been said to do!

All kidding aside, Antoine Dodson of ” Bed Intruder Song” fame (I still watch that one to this day!!!) recently drew public attention in a very different way. The previously unashamedly homosexual Antoine stated on Facebook that he no longer wants to be homosexual after reading that it was wrong in the Bible. This has been reported everywhere. Google it! But simply by viewing the headlines alone, it has not been received well at all!

There are people thinking he’s just trying for fifteen more minutes of fame. Some express concern for how many people he’s going to anger. An interviewer even attacked him sarcastically saying, “so you’re just going to pray the gay away!??” In response, Antoine just stood his ground and explained why he did what he did. The Bible. He is reading his Bible.

Now let’s be real. He still has much to learn based on his comments which are somewhat scattered. But the common denominator is the Word of God. He will lose friends, followers, popularity. If he truly desires men he will have to fight temptation daily.

When looking at this story, a few scriptures come to mind.

I Peter 4:3-4 NKJV

For we have  spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you.

II Timothy 3:16 NKJV

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

The Word of God is all powerful and can change any who honestly looks into it’s contents and realizes their life does not meet His standard. And when you do change, the world may persecute you. Expect that. But press on.

To Antoine I say, dude, you are on the right track. Keep reading that Word. Study it faithfully. Finish what you have started. God will see that you are seeking.

To the media I say, position this as big news in a good way. Everybody makes a big deal and says someone was brave when they “come out”. It’s so widely accepted. Is it really that brave anymore?

Not everybody will agree with this blog and that’s fine. Just some thoughts from your friendly Christian Music Pusher.
