Have you ever heard of the phrase “common knowledge?” It’s those concepts or things that should be pretty much known by all people because it’s so prevalent. Some might even call it common sense. It usually comes with the phase, “everybody knows that!”
It’s those things that apparently you’d have to have been living under a rock to not know about, like, “you’ve never heard of Michael Jackson?” And you quite possibly look foolish because you’re not in the know.
How many things do we consider common knowledge? Are there things we perhaps don’t share because we think people already know??
Do we feel that way about Jesus? The gospel?
At this point it could be safe to say everybody knows who Jesus is…right? I mean we’ve seen the movies. There are churches everywhere. A Bible is pretty accessible (although in some countries not really). Christianity is HUGE. Everybody knows.
True they may have heard of Jesus, but do they really know Jesus? They may know about Jesus, but do they know the gospel? The good news??
If you ran a poll on what people truly know about Jesus and the gospel, just asking simple questions, you might be surprised how much people don’t know. That’s not a knock on the world. That’s a knock on Christians.
We have our preconceived notions. We think the gospel is common knowledge. We think everybody knows. We make judgments on who we think will or won’t receive it. And we have become lazy because of it.
Consider…
Matthew 28:18-20 KJV
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Romans 10:13-15 KJV
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Not all information is common knowledge. Furthermore it would be sad if someone would remain lost in sin all because you figured he or she should have already known.
The world may know of Jesus. Tell the world who He is, what He did, why He did it, who He did it for and what it means we must do.
Because it’s too beautiful for you to not make sure it’s something that everybody does know.
On that note listen to the appropriate song, Beautiful Feet by Lecrae.

http://bible.com/1/PRO23.29.KJV Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast. They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.

Two in one day? Sorry i kept you waiting!
Yep! You know it’s hot when Lecrae cosigns on it. Thank you Crae! Derek Minor is definitely in my radar with this one as he highlights the scripture where Jesus says we cannot serve both God and mammon.
Blessings! Christian Music Pusher.
Well it would be out of place if I didn’t address it. The Trayvon Martin case. But I promised myself I would be brief on these blogs for myself and for the readers (we just don’t have time these days to read dissertations. Lol)
I fall in the category of the mildly informed bystander who passively paid attention. So what do I know in my narrow scope of knowledge? A young black boy was coming home from a store with some food and drink in his hand, somebody profiled him as a criminal of sorts and followed him, he got wind of him and a scuffled ensued which resulted in gunshots and the death of a young black man.
Details from both sides conflict. One pointing out that it was self-defense. The other saying this man started it by following him and eventually killing him after the scuffle. Something happened and again, a young man is dead. A 17-year old. Immediately I saw pictures of Trayvon placed in the spotlight with intentions to paint him as a thug who probably deserved it. Well that’s not right. Zimmerman continued to scream self-defense.
So the case begins. Then the case ends. The jury says there is not enough evidence to prove against Zimmerman’s plea for self-defense. It’s over. Zimmerman wins. Trayvon loses.
There are now several ways to look at this right? The justice system is flawed. The self-defense law is flawed. That was my take. Something didn’t and still doesn’t feel right. In my narrow view of things, I don’t think Trayvon had a fair shake. Perhaps his prosecution team was weak. They couldn’t build a strong enough case. Perhaps, the jury was swayed to believe this young black man was in the wrong. I didn’t see that. Perhaps the defense was just too good. Maybe. But where does the media and the public go?
RACE. COLOR. RACISM. Perhaps…
But the media have jumped on it like ravenous wolves. People are taking the streets. But Zimmerman is Hispanic…right? But he looks white – wait! No, this can’t be a racial issue could it? As far as we’ve come?? Nah! Could be. But if it wasn’t, would somebody still try as hard as they can to make it one?
YES.
Let’s me pull this all together. To Trayvon’s parents. I am so sorry for your loss and I pray that some resolve can come to you in some way. It’s not fair. You raised a child and love a child only to lose him this way. To Zimmerman, dude you didn’t look too concerned about what you did — whether on accident or on purpose. I pray that you are sorrowful for taking a life under whatever circumstances and take into consideration the magnitude of what you did. Remember, I’m an outsider, but this is how I feel. To the outsider, if you are uninformed and Black, don’t picket and post comments on twitter to incite racial tension.
What we need to do right now is pray. Pray for Trayvon’s family, pray for this society not to become volatile and ready to fight for something that they barely have knowledge of. There are people who simply want a reason to act up. Let’s pray for peace.
Don’t get sucked into a “fight the power” situation if you DON’T KNOW JACK!
Our work is to teach Jesus. Teach the Word. Teach peace. Teach us not to show partiality. Teach society not to get to this point. I guess I’m worried. I guess I am uninformed and scared that I will be an uninformed picketer. What Trayvon Martin became was yet another victim of many things– for sure gun violence. Let’s pray and make efforts to curb this epidemic. Let’s be sorrowful for that and let’s be smart. Only heaven knows what truly happened that night.
As I posted when I first heard the verdict, we have a righteous Judge in heaven that will make the right decision, who will examine all the evidence, who will not be faulty and there will be no one to dispute His judgment.
I leave you with two scriptures regarding living peaceably and not showing partiality…
Romans 12:17-18 NIV
Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
James 2:1, 8-10 KJV
My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
I think this song by Lecrae from his album “Gravity” really captures the crux of this situation…violence should stop.
Blessings,
Christian Music Pusher

I just read this from Lecrae on his Facebook wall and frankly he took the words out of my mouth. I’ve also noticed the comments left by fans.
We simply cannot base our faith on another man’s faith nor raise anyone doing God’s work on any pedestal! Lecrae being the most visible Christian artist right now faces a challenge. And he addresses it beautifully I think.
Let’s look at a few scriptures and then I’ll let Crae take it from there.
1 Corinthians 3:5-7 KJV
Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
Lecrae posted:
I’m pretty sure my Facebook feedback is enough for 2 complete chapters in a book. Lol. People are worried about so many of my moves as if anyone else’s moves mean less. I’m not more special in Gods eyes because of my platform. I think many are worried I’ll let them down. There isn’t a person alive that WONT in some way let you down. That’s why Jesus (not Lecrae) should be your hope.
Has “fame” gotten to me?! Lol.
I have a hard time saying I’m even remotely “famous”. Kanye West is famous, Katy perry is famous, I’m just…Lecrae. Then of course I’d have to ignore the various times people spot me out in public and tell me stories of how encouraged they are at what God is doing thru me & the thousands of people who show up at concerts. I get it. I just have a hard time accepting it. You have to understand years ago when I just rapping on street corners and the local halfway house, I could have cared less about being in a magazine. I wanted to impact people not impress people. Now I have to stand back and wonder who’s really impacted and who is simply impressed. Not necessarily impressed with my gifts but with the illusion of fame they perceive I have. I’m just a man with flaws, misconceptions and a murky lens that God is clearing up daily. Love to you all!
Thanks for sharing, Crae. Readers, share your thoughts. CMP out!!
