Ears, Eyes, Mind, Heart: Is What You Watch and Listen to That Important?

I’m not saying that those who listen to gospel music are perfect little angels. I’m not saying those that don’t are not. But have you noticed how every song, word or chorus you hear sticks with you? How each thing you saw on television can easily be recalled even when you’re not trying to recall it?

What you take in remains with you. If you take in enough of it, that information can slowly shape how you think, feel and act. It might even flow out of you naturally because it’s been added to your being.

Crazy ain’t it??

Yeah, you can listen to and watch whatever you want! Doesn’t mean you should. Let’s tie in some scripture though.

I Corinthians 10:23 NKJV

All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify.

You can eat all the fatty food you want but don’t be surprised if you develop health problems. Right? You can most certainly apply it to things that can affect your heart and mind towards God. Yeah, it’s that important. It’s no wonder that God encourages us to stay immersed in His Word.

Colossians 3:16 NKJV

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Well we’re talking about entrainment for the moment. I love all kinds of music and I’m sure you do too. All I’m saying is be careful. Use the beautiful things given to you to glorify God and keep you Holy. It will help others around you get better too.

Well it wouldn’t be ChristianMusicPusher.com without music right?

Discussion: Why Do The Rappers Curse??

Yeah it’s like beating a dead horse. And I’ve heard everything under the sun about why people do it. As it is so prevalent in hip hip music as smoking weed and baggy jeans…or skinny jeans…it begs discussion.

I get it. You grew up speaking that way. I get it. You do it to get our attention (nowadays rappers get my attention when they don’t curse). I get it. Society dictates what it’s and isn’t profanity. But once you know it’s unwholesome talk and you still do it, why still do it?

What does God think about it?

Ephesians 4:29 KJV

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Is profanity corrupt communication? Does it help the listener?

Rappers, be honest. Why do you do it? Do you think it’s wrong? If you knew God didn’t like it would you care enough to stop?

Let’s discuss!!!

Dance Out Your Faith with These Songs!

Being an artist myself, I kept thinking about it! What if someone made Christian dance music?? Like David Guetta or Calvin Harris, but with Christian themes and content? That would be crazy. I’m gonna do it! Well, a few artists have made it happen and music fans like myself have been the beneficiary of it! Here are a few artists that are in my rotation right now!

Britt Nicole – “Amazing Life”

Britt Nicole

Britt Nicole

I discovered Britt Nicole listening on Pandora Music and started to take notice. She has released quite a few albums that seem to perfectly mix pop music and Christian themes almost seamlessly! “Amazing Life” can be heard on her latest effort “Gold” now available.

Capital Kings

Capital Kings

Capital Kings – “I Feel So Alive”
Creating remixes for artists from Britt Nicole to Group1Crew, these kids are definitely out to make some noise for the Lord. After hearing thier remixes, I wondered what they could create on thier own. This song is off of  their debut, “Capital Kings”.

Beckah Shae

Beckah Shae

Beckah Shae “Incorruptible”

Beckah Shae keeps on pushing the boundaries of Christian music with ballads, hip-hop soul, even singing over acapella beat boxing with “Scripture Snacks”. Google her! She is nice! Her latest joint is called “Incorruptible” and it a monster that should follow Rihanna on the radio. But this song reminds us of God’s promises through Jesus!

Group1Crew

Group1Crew

Group1Crew – “Freq Dat”

Group1Crew, the Christian version of the Fugees (for the old heads) or the Black Eyed Peas (for the newbies). No, this one isn’t really talking about Christian content, but that’s what they do! This record is a clean party record minus the get-drunk, get-high content. Check out thier latest album “Fearless” for songs like “His Kind of Love” that talks about the love Jesus has for us. Rock to this one!

Press Play

Press Play – “Just Like Lightning”

Stumbled upon these kats listening on Pandora! Not sure what direction they go, but it’s all energy and outspoken devotion to God. They’ve releasd a few albums. Check out their catalog on iTunes. Their latest album is called “World Anthem”.

Yes! The first installment from your friendly Christian Music Pusher! Let me know what you think about these songs! There are more out there like Plumb “Don’t Deserve You” from her album “Need You Now”. That’s it for now. Stay tuned and be blessed!
