Lyrical Sunday Sermons- Know Me by Trip Lee
Once you get passed the fact that we are not the product of chance or a big bang theory explosion, you will understand that God created us. And he didn’t just leave us here to fend for ourselves. He has always given His creation instructions. Where He one spoke directly to His people, in these latter says, God has given His Son and then the Holy Spirit which is His Word. The Bible.
Consider… Ephesians 6:14-17 KJV
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. We therefore must be diligent to read, study and obey and LIVE the Word of God. In it lies our purpose, our strength, our hope and how to get through this life. It’s peace.
Trip Lee made one of the hottest songs I’ve heard and it really highlights this point. It’s called Know Me from his latest effort The Good Life

I relate to this song so much. As I get closer to Jesus I find that rappers and artists I used to be into don’t move me anymore…
I grew up perhaps. idk. As I listened to the newest Jay-z album, I’m impressed yet I’m over it. I can’t enjoy the negativity. No disrespect, but the content doesn’t match with my spiritual mindset.
Sho Baraka hit the nail on the head with this song Peter Pan . He talks about how he and his favorite rapper fell apart.
Hip hop, you’re close to fifty. When can we grow up?

Doing Something About Sex Trafficking — Watch “Micheal Berean – Scream feat. Dre Murray (Prod by:Dirty Rice)”
I literally just now stumbled upon this kid Michael Berean (as in the Bereans in Acts?) And only heard three songs but I’m impressed.
More importantly I’m impressed by his and Dre Murray’s resolve to do something about human sex trafficking and bringing it to light.

I’m going to be paying attention to this kid. Nice honest flow. There’s more to life than money, cash, hoes. Thank you for hip hop with a brain.

God Gives the Increase: @Lecrae’s Humble Facebook Post
I just read this from Lecrae on his Facebook wall and frankly he took the words out of my mouth. I’ve also noticed the comments left by fans.
We simply cannot base our faith on another man’s faith nor raise anyone doing God’s work on any pedestal! Lecrae being the most visible Christian artist right now faces a challenge. And he addresses it beautifully I think.
Let’s look at a few scriptures and then I’ll let Crae take it from there.
1 Corinthians 3:5-7 KJV
Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

I’m pretty sure my Facebook feedback is enough for 2 complete chapters in a book. Lol. People are worried about so many of my moves as if anyone else’s moves mean less. I’m not more special in Gods eyes because of my platform. I think many are worried I’ll let them down. There isn’t a person alive that WONT in some way let you down. That’s why Jesus (not Lecrae) should be your hope.
Has “fame” gotten to me?! Lol.
I have a hard time saying I’m even remotely “famous”. Kanye West is famous, Katy perry is famous, I’m just…Lecrae. Then of course I’d have to ignore the various times people spot me out in public and tell me stories of how encouraged they are at what God is doing thru me & the thousands of people who show up at concerts. I get it. I just have a hard time accepting it. You have to understand years ago when I just rapping on street corners and the local halfway house, I could have cared less about being in a magazine. I wanted to impact people not impress people. Now I have to stand back and wonder who’s really impacted and who is simply impressed. Not necessarily impressed with my gifts but with the illusion of fame they perceive I have. I’m just a man with flaws, misconceptions and a murky lens that God is clearing up daily. Love to you all!

Comments Please! What Would Jesus Tell Yeezus?
I waited and waited and even did a little research because I wanted top see if there was a logical explanation for this album title -to no avail. With a reputation for being vain firmly established, this now seems to be expected, especially when you run with one bold enough call himself hova. The response is a bunch of fans using disrespectful comments to praise this action. Anybody bothered?
Yeezus. Really?
Let’s entertain explanations. Which one gives one the right to try and put themselves anywhere near the creator? The alpha and omega? The all powerful?
None.
It’s not my call to judge but I will say it’s not safe. It’s too risky and highly narcissistic.
God has a special view of he who exalts himself. He humbles them. How fearful it is to be humbled by God. Trust me! I know!
But maybe he has a good explanation. Maybe I missed the point totally.
I am trying to be as non judgmental as possible here.
What would Jesus tell Yeezus about his album title? What are your thoughts?

It’s fathers day! So it’s only right we highlight fathers. I heard a really good sermon about being a provider for your family. He highlighted the importance as it applies to all of us, but fathers take note…
1 Timothy 5:8 KJV
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
Whoa! Heavy, but true. These days we see so many sob stories of fatherless families and worse we witness the breakdown of the family without a strong father figure. No disrespect to single moms.
So let’s give it up to the fathers, but let’s also admonish our fathers to be providers. Providers of love, discipline, sustenance and training in godliness as our heavenly Father does for us daily.
Rappers don’t talk about this enough so enjoy this one from Ruslan and friends!
